INSIGHTS

Anchor 1
Working professionals who are looking to achieve a terminal degree often have a lot of questions about what is required to pursue a doctorate and wonder if they could pursue their degree while working full-time. A Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) or Doctor of Management (DM) degree is designed to contain a balance of academic and practical management knowledge providing students with new insights and practical value beginning with the first course.
DBA Degree
Scholar-Practitioner Degrees

I would love to share more insights regarding what a DBA degree is and what it means for you as a practitioner who wants to learn more about solving business problems using the best evidence from academia. The UMUC DBA is an affordable 3 year program that allows you to get your doctorate while working full time. The online classes and cohort model ensure that you make valuable connections with your faculty and classmates while only requiring three short (Fri-Sat) residencies per year.

Corporate Universities
Knowledge Management

Many organizations have found the need to capture and disseminate corporate knowledge to their workforce. With large numbers of baby boomers leaving the organization, organizations are often not prepared to handle the loss of knowledge. I've implemented a corporate university model in a large federal government organization as a way to provide knowledge on unique organizational topics (whether technology or business process based) while also using it to communicate a sense of environment and cultural expectations.

Evidence-based Research
Problem Focused Research

Once you see the practicality and significance of using evidence-based research, you will be sold. I have guided many students through the research and writing of Critically Appraised Topics (CATs), Rapid Evidence Assessments (REAs), and Systematic Review dissertations. Students are able to rapidly transition between their role as student scholar to use evidence-based research to provide insight and implications for their daily work practices.
